A very special event full of the Christmas spirit. Sunday 30 November Open 10am to 7pm daily (closes 5pm on Sunday 7 December). 50 Christmas Trees in a Church features up to 60 individually decorated trees created by local organisations. The event has a competitive edge, as each organisation has the chance to win cash prizes in the public vote. Admission charge for adults, children free. All money raised will support a designated charity and the parish churches of Dickleburgh, Pulham Market, Pulham St Mary, Rushall, Starston, Thelveton, Shimpling and Frenze. Dickleburgh is to the north of Diss just off the A140, click here for a map. The church is on The Street, Dickleburgh’s main thoroughfare. 50 Christmas Trees in a Church 2007 – The Winners
The curtain came down on Dickleburgh’s 50 Christmas Trees in a Church 2007 on Sunday evening, December 9. Dickleburgh Primary School won the £500 prize for most popular Christmas tree overall and best children’s tree went to 1st Dickleburgh Sea Scouts.
James Richards, Head Teacher, Dickleburgh Primary School said: "We are delighted to have won the prize for most popular Christmas tree. It represents a whole school achievement, as all the children and staff were involved in creating decorations. We will be giving a donation to Christian Aid from or winnings. The school council will then decide how to spent the remaining money at the school." John Munday, Beaver Scout Leader, 1st Dickleburgh Sea Scouts said: ""It was great to win the children's section at this years 50 Christmas Trees especially as the theme for our tree was celebrating 100 years of Scouting. The decorations were made by the Beavers Section (sixteen 6 to 8 year olds) and the Cubs Section (twenty 8 to 10 ½ year olds)." Rev. Janice Scott said: "We had a wonderful week, with more than 3,000 visitors and many complimentary comments. I would like to thank all our volunteers from across the benefice for their support, particularly event organiser Norman Steer and his wife Rosemary. Their contribution to the success of 50 Christmas Trees in a Church has been enormous."
